Signs I Need to Get My Car’s Engine Rebuilt or Replaced

Village Autoworks can rebuild or replace your engine when it needs it. This is a good way to go for those who plan to keep their cars for a lifetime because they hold special meaning to them. Your automobile will give you signs that the engine has reached the end of its life. We are going to list these signs below so you know what to look for when it comes to your automobile and its engine.

Constant Knocking Sounds

If the engine is knocking all the time in your car, truck, or utility vehicle, it’s possible that you have worn rod bearings in the cylinder block that are causing the pistons to slam against the cylinder walls. This can actually break a rod and render your engine useless. We will need to partially rebuild your engine by replacing the cylinder block if a rod is broken. In some cases, depending on the mileage on the odometer, it may be a better idea to replace the entire engine.

Constant Overheating

Another sign that your engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced is if it overheats constantly no matter what you do. This can be an indication that it’s time to rebuild the engine by replacing the cooling system. It can also be a sign that you have a cracked engine block. If this is the case, replacing the engine is the better solution to the problem.

Excessive Exhaust

You should never see excessive exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe. If you do, your car’s engine is hemorrhaging fluid. This definitely requires an engine rebuilt to repair the problem. For example, a cracked head gasket and cylinder block will cause the engine to hemorrhage oil and coolant, which releases blue and white exhaust, respectively. If the engine is hemorrhaging fuel, you will see black exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe.

Metal in the Motor Oil

We will not be able to rebuild your engine if there are metal shavings in the motor oil. This is a sign that the engine parts are dissolving into the oil as the oil flows over them. In this case, we will have to replace the engine completely because there’s no way to stop the parts from disintegrating.

Significant Power Loss

Finally, a sign that your engine has reached the end of its life is significant power loss that cannot be resolved no matter how hard we try. As with any piece of machinery, there will come a point when your engine simply cannot produce power anymore.
